A portrait of the artist (as a not so young man)

Where did it all begin? 

Well, I like to think that studying graphic design at Norwich School of Art helped to mould my innate love of painting. And I’m pleased to say that running my own design practice - Visible Edge - in the City of London for 18 years, did nothing to knock it out of me.

All of which has brought me to where I am now….a full time artist, living in Walberswick, on the coast in Suffolk, painting people, landscapes and still life.

I’m passionate about trying to capture something of the movement and constant changes inherent in painting en plein air. To achieve this, I work in oils and wax, combining graphic composition with a deep, luscious impasto technique. 

And yes, that is a motorcycle helmet I’m holding… bikers can be artistic too!
